It’s summertime and the living is easy, right? Well, maybe not for those of you looking to sell your home. Stress can set in as you see clutter, lots of personal belongings, and marks on the walls. When it comes to selling your home, here are 5 tips to increase the likelihood of a quick sell.
1. GET RID OF THE CLUTTER:
The less of it there is, the better. A clean, organized home will help a potential buyer see more a “staged” home that could belong to anyone, rather than a home with all of your family photos, clothes and knickknacks out front and center. Even if you are still living in the property during the process, make sure clothes are organized, and depersonalize the home as much as possible.
2. CURB APPEAL:
It doesn’t have to be super fancy. Even a new mailbox or a freshly painted front door can change so much about a home. The outside of the home is what the buyer sees first. It is important that it looks inviting. Have a small budget? Plant a few flowers. Anything to draw the eye in to the home.
When your home is on the market, showings can occur at night, on weekends, and even early in the morning. If you want your home to sell fast, be prepared to be open to odd showing times, most likely not always when it’s convenient for you.
We all love our pets, but they (or their belongings) shouldn’t be visible during at all when prospective buyers are looking at your home. The less knowledge that buyers have about pets in your home, the better.
5. FRESHEN IT UP:
If you have too much furniture in a room, this is the time to change that. With potential buyers walking around your home, it’s important that everything flows well. If all the furniture is against the walls, or if it’s arranged specifically with children in mind, consider moving it around to make the space more inviting. A fresh coat of paint will be a plus as well.
